After downloading the OSX version, and typing "hugs" to start up the language, I obtain the following error: [schellekens:~] mpcs% hugs dyld: hugs can't open library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2) Any suggestions? Michel.

Hugs appears to ignore definitions of ">>" when using "do" notation, perhaps relying on the default definition in terms of ">>=". Here is an example. Unable to start WinHugs

I recently upgraded from WinME to WinXP, and in doing so, I discovered that I can't start up WinHugs anymore. Whevever I try to do so, the Hugs interpreter window shows up as normal, but with: ERROR - Illegal character escape sequence "\W" . A Hugs popup shows up: FATAL ERROR: Unable to locate prelude. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Hugs (I'm using the 12/01 version) but to no avail. I hope the info provided will help you resolve what's wrong and let me run WinHugs again. ok, based on the :settings you were using, there's a couple of things going on here: * you were using the internal printer to print results and not "show", which explains why your Show instance isn't being used (you control whether or not to use "show" to print results via the 'u' toggle.) * the internal printer doesn't print out the 'tag' of a newtype value, as that piece of information is by then gone. This is arguably a printer bug, but I'm not proposing/volunteering to fix it (at least not right now.) hth --sigbjorn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shawn P.
