After downloading the OSX version, and typing "hugs" to start up the language, I obtain the following error: [schellekens:~] mpcs% hugs dyld: hugs can't open library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2) Any suggestions? Michel.

truncate/floor with logBase

Hello, consider the following: Main> :version -- Hugs Version February 2001 Main> logBase 2 (fromInteger 32768) -- compute ld 2^15 15.0 Main> truncate 15.0 15 Main> floor 15.0 15 Main> floor (logBase 2 (fromInteger 32768)) -- should be == floor 15.0 14 Main> truncate (logBase 2 (fromInteger 32768)) -- should be == truncate 15.0 14 I can reproduce this with 8192 and 32768. To cut it short: (truncate (logBase 2 (fromInteger 2^a))) != a ; a=13 & a=15 Looks a little weird to me, but I'm a Haskell beginner, so possibly I just encountered an "It's not a bug, it's a feature" situation here. Freeze While Parsing Prelude

On my system (Gentoo Linux PPC, GCC 2.95.3), Hugs goes into an infinite loop while parsing the Prelude file. The problem is in input.c, lines 515 and 516: lineBuffer[lineLength] = fgetc(inputStream); if (lineBuffer[lineLength] == EOF) The value of EOF cannot be stored in a char on this system, so 'lineBuffer[lineLength] == EOF' always evaluates to 0. Here's a fix: int ch = fgetc(inputStream); lineBuffer[lineLength] = ch; if (ch == EOF) Glad to help, Jeff Binder

default heap

With all the recent excellant module fixes/updates, it looks like we're consuming more heap than before during loading. On what I would consider a moderately-sized package (haskore), it now bails for lack of heap during loading. Perhaps it's time to bump the default heap. Any thoughts on this matter? Anyone else running into this? --Jeff
