loading multiple modules in MacOS X

The dlsym() replacement for MacOS X doesn't use its "handle" parameter, so it has no hope of always finding the proper initModule function from among multiple modules. I noticed this when trying the graphics library, which loads two modules; the second one fails with unknown primitive references. The attached patch works on my MacOS X 10.2 system, but I'm not sure how compatible this is with other dyld implementations. --Robby

Hmm. I doubt this is the perfect way to build the graphics library for hugs on MacOS X, but it's the first thing I tried that actually worked: LDFLAGS_MKSO.Darwin = -bundle -lc /usr/lib/bundle1.o --Robby

change in IO error messages

In the 20021021 release candidate, a newline is now appended to IO error messages, including in particular the case of (ioError (userError "user message")). I dislike this change for several reasons: * It treats IO errors differently from other exceptions. That is, (show e) for an Exception e has a newline appended for IO errors but not other exceptions. * It introduces an unnecessary inconsistency with GHC. * It breaks HUnit, which needs to manipulate error message strings. -- Dean

WinHugs Problem

Hi, Im having trouble with WinHugs on Windows ME. When I installed it a few days ago it worked fine. Now it crashes on startup with "Winhugs has caused an error in Winhugs.EXE". I've uninstalled any software I installed after Hugs, and reinstalled Hugs multiple times, but I still get exactly the same error. The command line Hugs works fine. Mark.

Broken links for Netscape users

This is not really a hugs-bug, but I could not find out where else to send it: The links to the .msi files on http://cvs.haskell.org/Hugs/pages/downloading.htm are still broken for Mozilla-based (i.e. Mozilla :) browsers, though the note says they should be fixed. I suspect this is a CR/LF problem.

After downloading the OSX version, and typing "hugs" to start up the language, I obtain the following error: [schellekens:~] mpcs% hugs dyld: hugs can't open library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2) Any suggestions? Michel.
