No text output in WinHugs

Hello, I suspect this is a total newbie question, so I wanted to check here before going over to the Hugs-Bugs list. I've just installed hugs_SOE-Jan2005.msi on a WinXP machine. When I enter an expression in WinHugs like following: putStr "Hello" I get a blank line instead of the expected "Hello". I do get output from commands like ":?", etc. I assume I need to change a setting somewhere, but I haven't seen anything obvious yet. Please note that everything works fine with Hugs (command prompt version) and WinHugs in hugs98-Nov2003-2.msi works fine too. However, I'm starting to work through SOE, so, as I understand it, I need to use the Jan2005 installer. Thanks for any help with this, Kevin P.S. Are there any archives of the Haskell lists?

How to increase control stack size

Hello, I'm trying to increase hugs stack limit. Up to certain amount, I was successful with editing prelude.h file, namely modifying constants NUM_STACK and MAX_EVAL_DEPTH. But it seems that effective maximum on the MAX_EVAL_DEPTH is 58161 no matter how large the NUM_STACK is. (Always compiling large model, of course.) How can I increase this limit up to 32MB? What else should I modify to enable evaluation of extremely memory consuming programs? Thanks for any help, Dusan

Default Hugs98 install and packages

Hi all, I just compiled and installed Hugs98 from source on OSX 10.4 and wanted to start writing some unit tests. I can see that the Hunit library is installed in {Hugs}/packages/HUnit and this is supposed to be in the load path. However any call to 'import HUnit' produces a "Can't find imported module "HUnit"". Can someone please give me a pointer as to where the library should be placed so that Hugs will find it? Or perhaps I need to import it in another way? Many thanks in advance! Best regards, Nickolay
