GHC build fails for Xcode 5 Final because of llvm-gcc-4.2 made obsolete

Hi, Using Xcode 5 Final for building GHC is not possible because of llvm-gcc-4.2 made obsolete. One of the scripts in ghc-ios-scripts (arm-apple-darwin10-gcc) invokes llvm-gcc-4.2 from Xcode setup: TARGET_BIN="/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin" TARGET_GCC=$TARGET_BIN/arm-apple-darwin10-llvm-gcc-4.2 This binary is absent from Xcode 5. I tried using this configuration in arm-apple-darwin10-gcc: TARGET_BIN=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin TARGET_GCC=$TARGET_BIN/gcc This results in this error: http://lpaste.net/93640. Looks like this gcc binary is just a link to clang. Is there any way around it? Thanks, Sergey Mikhanov

Problems during link with ghc-ios

Hi all, I was able to build a ghc cross-compiler as per the wiki instructions (1), but I'm having trouble linking the static library in my application. Previously, I was producing a single lib using Stephen Blackheath's ghc-iphone binary with the flags "--make" and "-no-hs-main". I've been attempting to use the "-staticlib" and "-threaded" options to build the library, but Xcode reports missing symbols from both the RTS and my own code when it tries to link. Furthermore, when I run arm-apple-darwin10-ghc it reports that a number of libraries from the RTS have no symbols (although "nm" can find them just fine). Crash in freeHaskellFunPtr on iOS fixed in mainline

All, There was a bug where freeHaskellFunPtr would crash on iOS, which is now integrated into mainline GHC, so you may want to check this change out, especially if you are experiencing crashes. http://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/8284 Steve

Building GHC cross-compiler failing on libffi

Hi, I've just followed instructions for "Building a GHC cross-compiler for Apple iOS targets (1)", and I'm getting stuck during "make" while building libffi. Specifically I get errors like "no such instruction" and warnings about junk characters. I was able to build libffi using the build-ios.sh script found in libffi-3.0.13.tar.gz (2), but I noticed a less recent version (3.0.8) was listed in the "tarballs" file of the ghc distribution. Not sure if that makes any difference though. If anyone has suggestions for me, please let me know.
