Core Libraries Committee seeks nominations for three expiring seats (including my own).
# What is CLC?
CLC is a volunteer body, primarily tasked with management of API of `base` package, but also owning so-called Core Libraries and responsible for PVP. You can find out more at https://github.com/haskell/core-libraries-committee/
# Who should apply?
Anyone who meets the following criteria should apply:
* Candidates should have enough bandwidth to review merge requests to `base` on a semi-frequent basis (~3-4 per month), and sustain this for their 3 years term in a healthy manner.
* Candidates should be able to contribute opinions and analysis to issues raised by the community as a part of the CLC proposal process on a semi-frequent basis (~7 per month).
* Candidates should be good communicators, and at least be able to articulate to the CLC team when they will be available vs. unavailable.
* Candidates should be productive, and be able to follow through on merge requests and conversations to their completion in a diligent and timely manner.
We encourage any and all who satisfy these requirements to apply. Please note that we are not looking for the biggest galaxy brain in the room -- quite the opposite. We are looking for productive, motivated individuals who want to help support the ecosystem that we love. As such, we hope to build a broad sample of the community.
# How can I apply?
To apply for one of these positions, send an email to clc.nominations.2025(a)gmail.com that consists of the following data:
* The subject “CLC Election September 2025 - {your name}”.
* Why you think you’re a good fit given the above criteria.
* If applicable, please point us to some code you’ve written.
Please apply before Feb 2.
Best regards,
Andrew
Hi,
I'd like to be added to the group of maintainers of https://hackage.haskell.org/package/yi-rope.
I'm also a member of the yi-editor github group and have commit rights to the repo (and can upload to hackage for the rest of the core yi packages), co-maintain yi in Debian and would like to bring it to stackage, therefore I need to be able to to hackage uploads of yi-rope.
About four months ago I have been in contact with Jaro Reinders and Mateusz Kowalczyk. I have also added Dmitry Ivanov to this mail as the third person in the group of maintainers to get all current people together.
In accordance to https://wiki.haskell.org/Taking_over_a_package I'd like to make my intent known, without wanting to take sole ownership of the package, just be added as a fourth person who can keep the lights on.
Cheers

Hi,
I would like to bring you attention to ywo issues:
https://github.com/haskell/vector/issues/496https://github.com/haskell/containers/issues/1012
Both libraries list this mailing list as maintainers and the versions
of both libraries on Github are seemingly behind the versions on
Hackage.
I am currently working on updating the `strict-containers` package
to work with `ghc-9.10`,
https://github.com/haskellari/strict-containers/issues/14#issuecomment-2227…
but this package uses a script to pull `containers`, `unordered-containers`
and `vector` from Github and then generate code from versions it has pull.
However it uses git tags and git tags for the latest versions of the
above two libraries is missing.
I would very much appreciate it if someone could rectify this situation
as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Erik

Hello,
Here's my attempt to take over an apparently unmaintained package:
https://hackage.haskell.org/package/AC-Vector
It has been suggested to me to do this here:
https://github.com/haskell-infra/hackage-trustees/issues/391
I have prepared a patch rendering the instance declarations in code
compatible with the class structure of base>=4.9. If any authorised person
were to simply apply the enclosed patch, I'd appreciate that too.
That's all,
Jan

While I can do another non-maintainer upload in my Trustee hat, Iâd like
to seek a more permanent solution and maintain `bzlib` back to its canonical

I’d like to take over `bzlib` package (https://hackage.haskell.org/package/bzlib)
I’ve contacted the package maintainer (Duncan Coutts, CC'd) by email twice in Aug 2023 and Oct 2023, but never heard back. Earlier Duncan granted me rights for `tar` and `zlib` packages, so I imagine he is just exceedingly busy.
`bzlib` package has been on life support by Hackage Trustees for many years with a fork maintained at https://github.com/hackage-trustees/bzlib. While I can do another non-maintainer upload in my Trustee hat, I’d like to seek a more permanent solution and maintain `bzlib` back to its canonical home at https://github.com/haskell/bzlib (which I already have access to).
I do not plan any drastic changes. The immediate cause of this request is HSEC-2024-0002 (https://github.com/haskell/security-advisories/pull/157, https://github.com/hackage-trustees/bzlib/issues/4) which identifies a security vulnerability in `bzlib`, thus raising a need for urgent update.
Best regards,
Andrew
