If we spent as much time recruiting new programmers as we did arguing over all this Foldable/Traversable stuff we wouldn't have these problems in the first place.
As I think some have already pointed out, the needless duplication of general and specialised functions, and other historical warts, frustrates and confuses new programmers (they certainly did this to me).
