In order to cabal install readline I had to add one or more of the following lines to my ~/.profile: export INCLUDE_PATH=/opt/local/include export C_INCLUDE_PATH=/opt/local/include export LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/local/lib export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/local/lib Does it help if you do something similar for your libraries?
