My proposal[1] of turning the type synonym SampleVar into an abstract newtype is nearing its deadline (1 day to go).
The deadline for this proposal has passed. There were zero -1s and two +1s from Edward Kmett and myself. It would be nice if somebody could commit the patch. Thanks, Bas
