+1 for lookupMaxBelow and lookupMinAbove (and lookupMaxBelowEqual / lookupMinAboveEqual).
If we go with min/max terminology rather than lt/le/gt/ge, might I suggest rather: lookupMaxNotAbove / lookupMinNotBelow ? "Below equal" and "above equal" is mixing metaphors. -- Live well, ~wren
