Try with -fno-generics. If that solves it I'll explain why.
fptools/libraries/haskell-src/Language/Haskell/Syntax.hs takes a long time to compile, and -fno-generics doesn't seem to help (not that that's the sort of advice you want to be handing out to everyone).
