Problem compiling with nhc98 for Windows NT using Tracer

Hi all, I recently installed the nhc98 compiler (basic configuration for Win NT, latest cygwin release), but compiling it with hmake -T aborts with the following error message: nhc98 -T -c -o testHAT.T.o testHAT.hs nhc98 -T -o testHAT testHAT.T.o E:/Programme/nhc98-1.06/lib/ix86-CYGWIN_NT-4.0/libdebugT.a(browsercomms.o)(.text+0x1af8):browsercomm s.c: undefined reference to `re_comp' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I assume something went wrong during the installation!? another build problem

Hi, these are last few lines of output when building nhc from sources. Note the Bus error - core dumped line. What is the problem? The system is FreeBSD 3.5. error while compiling cvs nhc

Hi, I tryed to compile nhc from cvs and it compiles part of it but stops at this: make: *** No rule to make target `src/prelude/Array/*.hc', needed by `targets/ix86-FreeBSD/prelude-gcc'. Stop. Vaclav Haisman PS: The system is FreeBSD-3.5 and the compiler is gcc-3.0.

If so, then yes, this was inadvertently broken in 1.06. A full patch is attached. > Changing CSUFFIX from "hc" to "c" in the nhc98 driver seems to fix this. Unfortunately, that is not a very safe fix - it will break a build via gcc. Better to undo that change and apply the patch below. (After applying, a ./configure is needed.) When using the original nhc98 binaries I built from the included C sources, I got a build error while building ...../prelude/Binary/PutBits.gc Greencard complained about 'foreign' being an undefined: /home/bfulgham/nhc98-1.04/script/nhc98 -cpp -c +CTS -part -redefine -CTS -o /home/bfulgham/nhc98-1.04/targets/ix86-Linux/obj/prelude/Binary/PutBits.o PutBits.gc No C type decl for variable foreign in DIS: Apply (Constructor "BH") [Apply (Declare "BinHandle" (Var "bh")) [Apply (Var "foreign") [Exp "finaliseBH",Var "bh"]]] greencard-nhc98 failed on ./PutBits.gc make: *** [/home/bfulgham/nhc98-1.04/targets/ix86-Linux/obj/prelude/Binary/PutBits.o] Error 1 Comparing this directory with one in which "foreign" style functions compiled successfully, I found that the IO directory was omitted. This patch allows the build to complete successfully, though I don't know if it is the best possible fix.
