bindPort of Warp

Hello, I have one more thins to say about Warp. Warp provides self-socket-biding function called bindPort. This function tries to use IPv4 only. Is this intentional? Are their any reasons to not support IPv6 also? If this is not intentional, I would love to make a path to support both IPv4 and IPv6. P.S. To those who are not familiar to IPv6: If we can create a listing socket of IPv6 and if IPV6_V6ONLY is false, the socket can magically handle both IPv4 and IPv6. IPV6_V6ONLY is false by default on Linux and Mac. It is true by default on BSD. So, my hack would change Warp's behavior on BSD. That is, it can accept IPv6 only. I think that this behavior should be fixed in the network library. And I have already sent a pull request. https://github.com/haskell/network/pull/13 --Kazu

Announce: heroku package

I uploaded a package designed to contain code useful for deploying to Heroku that I am using to deploy an app to Heroku that uses their free database [1]. All the package does now is parse the DATABASE_URL environment variable to help with connecting to the database. I will be doing a blog post on the Yesod blog shortly about deploying Yesod to Heroku, although everything is fairly well documented already [2]. Connection: handling on Warp

Hello, Current Warp does not handle the Connection: header. For HTTP 1.1, RFC says that the connection is closed by an HTTP server if Connection: is "close" and it is not closed otherwise. For HTTP 1.0, RFC says that the connection is not closed if Connection: is "keep-alive" and it is closed otherwise. Current warp does not close connection, for example, for ResponseFile even if Connection: is not specified in HTTP 1.0. ab (ApacheBench) tries to create HTTP 1.0 connections and expects that the connections are closed by the server side. So, trying to benchmark Warp with "ab" results in getting stacked. I would like to add a proper handling of Connection: to Warp. What do you guys think? --Kazu

New Yesod mailing list

Hi everyone, So after our little trial period, I'm starting to think that regulating user comments to the web-devel mailing list is only going to stifle Yesod. As much as I dislike taking Yesod discussions off list, I think we're going to have to go that route. I've just created a new Google Group[1] for Yesod, and encourage anyone interested in following Yesod development to subscribe there. I'll likely give it a few days before updating the Yesod site to make sure the system works out properly. yesod: problem with static directory listing

Dear Yesoder's I am having a slight problem with the static file serving part of yesod. If I used the following routes -- Site.hs data Site = Site { getStatic :: Static } mkYesodData "Site" [$parseRoutes| /test RootR GET /test/static StaticR Static getStatic |] and use the following static configurations -- Controller.hs withTest :: (Application -> IO a) -> IO a withTest f = toWaiApp site >>= f where site = Site {getStatic = static "static"} I get the following problem (1) Files are properly served from the static directory However (2) If I access the url http://localhost:3000/test/static The directory listing shows root with url http://localhost:3000/test index.html with url http://localhost:3000/test/index.html You can get the complete code by $ darcs get http://www.cse.iitk.ac.in/users/ppk/yesod/static Any help is appreciated. Evaluating Yesod and some issues with yesod-tableview.

For a week, in my free time, I want to evaluate Yesod. My plan is to rebuild in Yesod an application I have created with PHP. The application requires user authentication, access privileges for each user, forms and views for the data. Some forms should have repeated elements such as Persons Name1 Surname1 Age1 Name2 Surname2 Age2 ...... Namen Surnamen Agen My understanding is that Yesod can not handle this use case yet. If this is true I intend to include a hidden filed which will contain the values of the repeated elements in json format. Also, the respective form elements will have no name to prevent the browser from submitting their value. Before that, I need to to have a table which will list entries from a db table. The table should support pagination and filters. The filters will be in a form like: Filters: Name [An* ] Age between [12 ] [100] The values displayed in the table should be limited based on the values provided in the filters fields. I found a project in hackage, yesod-tableview. It doesn't compile. The error message I get is Yesod/TableView/NumEntriesForm.hs:28:19: Couldn't match expected type `text-0.11.0.8:Data.Text.Internal.Text' against inferred type `[Char]' Expected type: [(Int, text-0.11.0.8:Data.Text.Internal.Text)] Inferred type: [(Int, String)] In the first argument of `selectField', namely `numbers' In the expression: selectField numbers (fromString prompt) mdata I fixed the problem by removing the form which I don't needed anyway. I intend to do more modifications on the package. Namely, I'd like to make the package configurable on it's templates in order to produce json instead of html. This would permit integrating the functionality provided by the package with javascript grid components such as http://trirand.com/blog/jqgrid/jqgrid.html In order to develop the project I will have to deal with authentication, authorization, forms, persistent and widgets. I hope I will not wear your patience with my questions. Freely accessible examples that achieve parts of the intended functionality of the test application, would be very useful. How to use Yesod oAuth?

Hello, I'm trying to use Yesod oAuth plugin to a SNS site which is very similar to Twitter. I add oAuth into the authPlugin and I'm able to see the auth URL at login page. I click the URL and it forwards me to a page ask me input that SNS site account. I fill in my account then the browser navigate to the authorize page display a authorised code (8 digits). Then, how I suppose to continue? (I think this is the 2nd phase of the oauth process) I expect there will be a text box in my App where I can fill in the authorised code. Or even the oAuth plugin automatically get the authorised code and continue to the next oauth phase. Regarding the isAuthorized function discussed at http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/web-devel/2011/000855.html, I believe it would be better if the second parameter was the method (GET, POST, ..) instead of a boolean indicating if it is POST or DELETE.
