I now display window names in the tabs (which are still hideous). Still needs work to get expose events. Hi all, Here are the patches introducing two new contrib modules: Decoration and Tabbed. Tabbed is a simple tabbed layout. It views one window at a time, and has tabs that you can click on to get to other windows. The tabs aren't visible unless there's more than one window in the workspace. Currently the tabs are a hideous color, and are completely unlabelled. But still, in my opinion it's often a slight improvement over full-screen mode. You have almost the same viewable space, but you also have the benefit of a visual reminder of how many windows are open. You also have O(1) access to windows, if you can remember where their tabs are (vs. the O(N) access that is all you get with the full layout. Decoration is almost self-explanatory. It exports one function, which creates a new "decoration" window and associates with it a response to mouse clicks and redraw requests. Except that the redraw stuff (expose events) isn't working yet. Decoration keeps track of when to destroy the window, so layouts can just fire and forget. It's a little hokily implemented, but seems to work fine. Hi, so, I started working on adding full haddock support to the XMonad source code, but it seems that haddock itself must be patched first, since it does not deal with "deriving" from parametrized types, such as the type X: deriving (Functor, Monad, MonadIO, MonadState XState, MonadReader Xconf)) A small change in the code of the haddock parser solves the problem, but still haddock does not handle "deriving" very well and I do not think that using a preprocessor is an option.[1] Here you can see what I can get with a patched haddock: http://gorgias.mine.nu/xmonad/XMonad.html What do you think? Problem with transients and xinerama

I'm finding that pop-up dialogs seem sometimes to appear on the wrong screen. Wrong in the sense that at the time, the focused window is on the other screen, so I'm expecting a transient on that window to appear on the same screen (at least initially).

DynamicLog.hs and multiple xinerama screens

Are there markers attached to workspaces that let you identify when a workspace is being displayed on a screen ? This is as distinct (but similar to) whether a workspace is the current active workspace. At the moment, the output of DynamicLog is great, but since I have 2 screens it would be good to know which workspace I have up on the other screen as well (so I don't keep tripping over grabbing it as I trawl my workspaces). If there's a marker for which workspace is where I assume this should be a simple mod ? Cheers Dave

run-xmonad.sh

I've started using the run-xmonad.sh script, but I've found that only one of the menu bars start up correctly. I've recompiled dzen with xinerama support, and set the status bars to show up at the left and right of one of my screens. The menu that reads from the pipe for the workspace status works nicely. However the other statusbar (which I can start from a terminal by hand, and see it show up doing its thing correctly) doesn't show up. Any ideas all ?
