darcs patch: Bugfix: reordering when filtering out the last window ...
by Karsten Schoelzel 29 Jul '07

29 Jul '07

Sat Jul 28 15:25:07 CEST 2007 Karsten Schoelzel <kuser(a)gmx.de> * Bugfix: reordering when filtering out the last window on a workspace Say you have three windows A B C* on a workspace with * marking the focus. If you close C or move it to another workspace, the resulting order will be B* A, thus reordering the other windows, defying the comment of filter.

darcs patch: fix WorkspaceDir (which was broken) using LayoutHelpers.
by David Roundy 29 Jul '07

29 Jul '07

Yay for getting this fixed! I've missed having this working, as it's so nice to be able to make terminals that pop up in a given workspace start up with the right working directory (or so using grun I can open up pdfs using kpdf without typing the full path to my pdfs). darcs patch: Commands: refactoring to include in MetaModule
by Andrea Rossato 28 Jul '07

28 Jul '07

Hi, the description says it all. I changed this module in order to include it in MetaModule. ciao andrea Sat Jul 28 15:20:29 CEST 2007 Andrea Rossato <andrea.rossato(a)unibz.it> * Commands: refactoring to include in MetaModule Just a small refactooring (well, now runCommand requires a command list, and I added runCommand's that will take a string to run it against the default command list) to include this module in MetaModule so that we can track it in case of API changes (this patch has been requested by Spencer).

darcs patch: added workspaces to hs-boot (needed by XMonadContrib.C...
by Andrea Rossato 28 Jul '07

28 Jul '07

Hi, sorry for the previous one (please foget it). This one adds workspaces to Config.hs-boot. The number of workspaces may be needed in many contrib modules. By the way, it is needed by the new version of Commands.hs I'm sending. This version can be added to metamodule and thus can be tracked. Please let me know. Andrea Sat Jul 28 15:17:56 CEST 2007 Andrea Rossato <andrea.rossato(a)unibz.it> * added workspaces to hs-boot (needed by XMonadContrib.Commands and possibly other modules)

An xmonad demo at the haskell workshop
by dons＠cse.unsw.edu.au 26 Jul '07

26 Jul '07

Hey all, I'm going to try to give xmonad demo and experience report at the Haskell Workshop, this year in Freiburg. http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~keller/haskellws/HaskellWorkshop.html My plan is to talk about: * QuickCheck, testing and specification * Interacting with ugly C libraries, in a clean way * Benefits, drawbacks, and experience designing system utilities in Haskell Does anyone have any suggestions on other aspects of the project that would be interesting to present? -- Don

scripting xmonad externally?
by Zed Lopez 26 Jul '07

26 Jul '07

I've primarily been a ratpoison user for years, with a dalliance with wmii for a few months. I tried Xmonad over the weekend. Very nice work. The thing I'm most missing from ratpoison and wmii is an external api, which makes them extensible from external programs (and any language.) Executing "ratpoison -c <ratpoison-command>" issues the command to the running ratpoison instance. wmii has a Plan 9 interface, driven by reading to and writing from particular places in a virtual filesystem. Third-party wrappers of these facilitate scripting in various languages. Are there any plans to offer such an interface in Xmonad in the future (or am I being a dolt and it's already possible and I've just missed it)? Here are some of the things that have resulted from the interfaces for the others: http://eigenclass.org/hiki.rb?wmii+ruby http://ratpoison.antidesktop.net/cgi-bin/wiki/Scripts
