I think the way fullscreen works isn't correct. So far I've only been able to get rid of the red line around the window, but I still see the panel at the top. It's very annoying watching anything with the panel at the top. I need the panel so removing it isn't an option. -- This is in reference to the totem movie player, not the browser plugin gnome mplayer which works well with isFullscreen manageHook query. User had doFloat hook for the player. It is possible to instead doFullFloat the totem player to provide fullscreen without strut windows visible, however still the normal toggle commands don't work. Always full screening totem isn't an ideal solution, though, hence moving that report to this issue separate from the mplayer related Issue 333. I've not been able to find any references as to how totem attempts to request or implement fullscreen. Nor have I found any xmonad settings to support totem's fullscreen toggling. Closing this as won't fix for now. Prioritizing as low since other media players such as mplayer work well with xmonad. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? expected: xmonad If ~/.xmonad has only xmonad.hs, xmonad-x86_64-linux (executable) will be produced on the first run of the windowmanager (which will work on subsequent boots). Using 'ghc --make xmonad' will produce a new, working binary 'xmonad'. The only way I can affect changes from xmonad.hs is to delete 'xmonad-x86_*', compile using ghc, renaming xmonad to xmonad-x86_64-linux and finally log out and then back in; or modify xmonad.hs, delete xmonad-x86*, logout and then log back in. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? ghc 6.10.4 base from Ubuntu 9.10 amd64, xmonad & -contrib 0.9, all packages are current as of 11-19 and compiled without any errors. Are you using an xmonad.hs? xmonad-extras is now on hackage

The xmonad-extras package which contains some additional functionality that requires additional dependencies is now on Hackage: http://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-extras-0.9 It includes a prompt for MPD, volume control and a way to evaluate Haskell expression at runtime, similar to Emacs' eval feature. If anyone has some modules or ideas that can't go in contrib due to dependencies, patches and/or suggestions are always welcome.

The original code would create a screen rectangle of negative height and wreak havoc. This patch causes such strut to be ignored on the screen it covers entirely, resulting in the desired behaviour of a small strut at the top of screen 2. Please note that this semantics of _NET_WM_STRUT and _NET_WM_STRUT_PARTIAL is different to what is in wm-spec. The "correct" thing to do would be to discard the covered portion of screen 1 leaving two narrow areas at the sides, but this new behaviour is probably more desirable in many cases, at least for xmonad/xmobar users. The correct solution of having separate _NET_WM_STRUT_PARTIAL for each Xinerama screen was mentioned in wm-spec maillist in 2007, but has never really been proposed, discussed and included in wm-spec. XMonad.StackSet doesn't have focusLast

Similar to focusDown and focusUp in XMonad.StackSet, is there a way to do focusLast? I am learning Haskell but don't know it well enough to write that function yet. I saw something promising in http://xmonad.org/xmonad-docs/xmonad-contrib/src/XMonad-Hooks-InsertPositio… (with a specific note wondering if focusLast should go into StackSet) but don't know if it will work. Any help is most welcome. Thanks Ted

Hi there! This is a patch which contains a fairly big rewrite of BorderResize to make it more efficient. The old version used to destroy and re-create all input windows for the borders on every single change. That's obviously not very smart, even so it worked surprisingly well for such a naive approach. In any case, this version now keeps track of windows and where new borders need to be created, destroyed or just adjusted. It should perform better. Regards!
