darcs patch: strip generated binary

This noticeably cuts down the size of the generated binary; on x86_64: 6.1M before 3.7M after Or if the symbols are in some way useful, it wouldn't be difficult to add a command line option to not strip. Adam

patch: Unicode fix for XMonad.Hooks.EwmhDesktops

Properly encode destop names before sending them to X server in XMonad.Hooks.EwmhDesktops. XMonadContrib is not buildable without utf8-strings with this patch. Encoding bugs are not limited to spawn functions (-: Sorry for that it's not darcs patch but I have problems with haddock so recording fails.

float, match by regex?

so in .xmonad/xmonad.hs, I see how i can make a window float, by selecting it's title; however, suppose I wnat a bunch of windows to float, i.e.: "float1" "float2" ... is it possible to instaed of listing out all titles, specify a regex, or a function that goes [Char] -> Bool ? (for deciding whether to float the window or not) thanks!

Comment #7 on issue 279 by allbery.b: Some GTK2 apps crash X when XMonad's stderr is not redirected to /dev/null http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=279 That would indeed do it; logout leads to the kernel calling vhangup(), which maps all file descriptors on the console/tty to "dead" handlers that return EIO for all operations. So output to the virtual console may no longer be possible. I attached what I got from putting "exec strace -o xmonad.strace xmonad" in my ~/.xinitrc. I hope this is more like what you are looking for.
