Note that the difficulties with stringToKeysym are already noted in the module's documentation. What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Add a binding for > , ( "M-S-b", pasteString "http://code.google.com" ) What is the expected output? What do you see instead? It pastes httpcodegooglecom I've pushed a patch that changes the paste to "http;//code.google.com", which is still wrong with the ';' vs ':'. After switching the focus using keyboard or mouse click everything become ok What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? 0.9.1 on gentoo linux Are you using an xmonad.hs? We should go through all of xmonad and make sure all code follows these guidelines: * All String ([Char]) values should be lists of Unicode code points, and should NOT be in UTF-8 or any other encoded form. * All input that creates String values should decoded from bytes in whatever encoding to a lists of code points (this means System.IO and proper locale settings in GHC 6.12, System.IO.UTF8 in older) * All output that takes String values should encode the code points to bytes in whatever encoding (again System.IO in 6.12, utf8-string otherwise) * All non-string data (lists of bytes, encoded strings, etc.) should be stored at types other than [Char] If anybody wants to spearhead this, feel free to come forward. Each time time it's with relatively few windows open (chromium with ~10 tabs and ~4 instances of urxvt). Nothing too heavy. Seems to be random at this point. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect it to...well, no lock up. But it freezes up and none of the keybindings in haskell.hs work (can't even recompile). I can't change workspaces or window focus, but the currently focused window still has its (non-monad related) bindings and functionality work fine (chromium, screen w/ urxvt) and I can still ctrl+alt+F1 to console. Mouse still works, but it doesn't change focus on the windows. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Arch x86_64 with kernel 2.6.34-ARCH and xmonad 0.9.1 Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". No --recompile output. See attached for xmonad.hs. Please provide any additional information below. It's done it twice in the less than 24 hours I've had it installed. ivanm @ #xmonad has confirmed this problem also.
