Start Mozilla Thunderbird and some other windows 2. Go to Account Settings in Thunderbird 3. Move the Account Settings window to try to see what's behind it 4. Click on a different window 5. Mouse over the thunderbird Account Settings window What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect the background window to remain the same. Instead, the background window changes to some predefined window. This prevents me from seeing the window in the background while typing into the Account Settings window. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? xmonad 0.8.1 on Gentoo Linux. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". Yes. Attached. xmonad --recompile has no output. Please provide any additional information below. Perhaps this problem is related to dialogs that disallow the parent window from being used. In addition, the other functions are cleaned up to use cascade with the default "dmenu" command. I tried doing "darcs record", but I do not have packages that satisfy the testing version dependencies and the xmonad update from cabal has dependency solving issues with the system version. Opening a bug to track it and changing existing code to use it and reduce duplication (X.H.InsertPosition could also be made to use ToggleHooks). The patches attached are raw patches to add support and also swap X.H.FloatNext to use the ToggleHook calls. When using subkey for keybindings, it grabs any use of the subkey. 2. I tried using xdotool to send the key, but xmnad grabs this as well. What is the expected output? updating.... in xmobar

Hey all, I just started trying xmonad out, and I really ilke it. I've used ratpoison in the past but eventually gave it up. xmonad seems to work better for me so far. I realize this is a xmobar question, but I am guessing there are people on this list that uses xmobar also. I have a .xmobarrc which looks like follows: <snip> Config { font = "-*-Fixed-Bold-R-Normal-*-13-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" , bgColor = "black" , fgColor = "grey" , position = TopW L 100 , lowerOnStart = True , commands = [ Run Cpu ["-L","3","-H","50","--normal","green","--high","red"] 10 , Run Memory ["-t","Mem: <usedratio>%"] 10 , Run Swap [] 10 , Run Date "%a %b %_d %l:%M" "date" 10 , Run Com "uname" ["-s","-r"] "blaj" 36000 , Run StdinReader ] , sepChar = "%" , alignSep = "}{" , template = "%StdinReader% }{ %blaj% %cpu% | %memory% * %swap% <fc=#ee9a00>%date%</fc>" } </snip> ...and in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs I have: <snip> ... xmproc <- spawnPipe "/usr/bin/xmobar /home/jcx/.xmobarrc" ... </snip> All I get is "updating..." where %StdinReader% is placed.
