Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 427 by moreil...(a)gmail.com: xmonad should recompile configuration on SIGHUP http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=427 in unix it's common convention for long-lived processes to re-read configuration and restart on receiving a HUP signal. to my surprise xmonad does not follows this.

Toggle Window (Always Below <-> Always Above)

Hi, using AvoidStruts I have implemented some way to show my status bar only while holding my modkey. Unfortunatly this method is quite slow and ineffective as all windows on the current screen resize and redraw when pressing the modkey. Instead I'm searching for a way to reorder the stackset such that my dzen window appears either above all other windows (while the modkey is pressed) or below all other. Some implementation like that would although solve another issue I'm experiencing: When I restart xmonad my dzen bar is suddenly on top of all other windows until I create a new one, that then enables all other windows to again cover the status bar. Someone got an idea how to implement such an behavior based on what is already done with those eventhooks in my current configuration? (see line 130-152) Best regards, Jan P.S. Screen-like Layout

Hi, Does anyone know of a layout that replicates the behavior of GNU Screen? I'd to be able to manually split/resize windows, Screen-style. Thanks!

Dear Linus, it might have been that I started the CycleWS module (I don’t even remember :-)) but since then, it was mostly developed and extended by other members of the community. Hello, Is there a way to use windowNavigation for inner subLayout? For example, I have Tall as inner layout and Simplest as outer, and I want two different key-bindings groups: - one to navigate inside focused Tall - other to switch to next tiled windows group inside Simplest Thanks a lot. -- Victor

ManageHook and doF

Hi! I have manageHook like this: myManageHook = composeAll [ className =? "Firefox" --> doF(W.shift "web"), className =? "Gajim.py" --> doF(W.shift "chat"), className =? "Deadbeef" --> doF(W.shift "music"), title =? "Gajim" --> doFloat, className =? "MPlayer" --> doCenterFloat, ] so, if some workspace does not exist by some reason, the new window will appear on current workspace. How to chek if workspace exists and create it before "W.shift" action? I think addWorkspace from XMonad.Actions.DynamicWorkspaces can do this, but I don't know haskell well to write some function that can be used with doF.

one minor annoyance - default layout for screen

I've now been using xmonad inside of gnome for about a week... slowly removing the gnome aspects of everything... in the meantime I have one annoyance. I have a dual monitor setup where I wanted to have sep. workspaces for each monitor. That wasn't a problem to get setup... but the 2nd monitor, I want to split the layout horizontally rather than vertically... I can accomplish this with: layoutHook = reflectHoriz $ Tall 1 (3/100) (1/2) But... I don't know enough Haskell to combine that together with my existing gnome friendly layout hook. A this is the code you want plus, go look at this bit of haskell to learn why it works would be greatly appreciated.
