Please provide any additional information below. It's difficult to find which module exports copy, because of it's very common name.

Not reproducible, but it *always* happen after a long running (10h+) Emacs session. It happen when switching between windows in fullscreen mode or when resizing a window. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I should be able to switch between windows or resize them, but Emacs is stuck in the position and size it had when the bug happen. The other windows behave normaly but are masked by the stuck Emacs window. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? 0.9.2-1.2/Arch It also happened to me often using older version of XMonad under Debian. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". This command doesn't produce any output, but that bug happen even without any customization. Please provide any additional information below. Never saw that bug happen with anything other than Emacs. This issue is probably related to: http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=413 I'm running inside a VirtualBox vitual machine, I've never saw this bug with a physical one, but I never ran long enough sessions on them either.

I tried figuring it out a while back and couldn't get it to work. Would be really nice as then you could possibly change the focus-click-eating behavior as well.

Hi, I finally joined this list... Fedora has been shipping xmonad for quite a while now, and it is also available in EPEL 6. Could you please update the Fedora link on http://xmonad.org/download.html to reflect this? Start Mozilla Thunderbird and some other windows 2. Go to Account Settings in Thunderbird 3. Move the Account Settings window to try to see what's behind it 4. Click on a different window 5. Mouse over the thunderbird Account Settings window What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect the background window to remain the same. Instead, the background window changes to some predefined window. This prevents me from seeing the window in the background while typing into the Account Settings window. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? xmonad 0.8.1 on Gentoo Linux. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". Yes. Attached. xmonad --recompile has no output. Please provide any additional information below. Perhaps this problem is related to dialogs that disallow the parent window from being used. Fresh install on ubuntu, no windows appearing

I'll open by saying this is not the FAQ. I'm pressing mod-shift-enter; that's not the problem. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 under VirtualBox, using all defaults. Then I did apt-get install xmonad, which pulled in xmonad 0.9.1. At this point I tried a few approaches to switch to xmonad, based on http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/index.php?title=Xmonad/Using_xmonad_in_Gnome For the simplest approach, I killed metacity then ran xmonad. Upon running xmonad, all my windows disappeared. I pressed mod-shift-enter a few times; no terminals appeared. I killed xmonad and started metacity again. The original windows reappeared along with the terminal windows I created while xmonad was running. They were in a layout that could only have been created by xmonad. So it's clearly doing something, but I can't see what while it's running. /usr/share/applications/xmonad.desktop and /usr/share/xsessions/xmonad.desktop both exist. I've tried the various gconftool commands on the above page, admittedly in a somewhat cargo-cult manner. When I feel like I've strayed too much from the pristine config, I recreate the user settings. Any ideas on fixing this? -- Brian

XMonad.Actions.DynamicWorkspaces selectWorkspace prompt nitpicking

I just discovered the excellent XMonad.Actions.DynamicWorkspaces but have two issues with selectWorkspace: -If I don't type a workspace name and just hit enter, it assumes I want to create an unnamed workspace. I'd prefer it did nothing. It's confusing because you see in your pager you have an extra workspace but there's no extra workspace in the prompt. At first I thought XMonad or my pager was bugged. -selectWorkspace appears to act more like "selectOrAddWorkspace." If you type the name of a workspace that doesn't exist, it creates it. I'd prefer it pick the workspace I would have gotten had I pressed tab to do completion first. The reason is that I'm used to ido mode in emacs, where it autocompletes as you type, so you never have to hit tab. Because selectWorkspace only takes an XPConfig, I don't think there's anyway for me to customize it, without diving into the extension's code. Am I right? Or is there a better way? -Joe G.

Putting PID into window title?

I sometimes spawn multiple instances of app that puts important information in the titlebar of its main window, but doesn't put the information in the titlebars of its child windows. When I run two instances of this app on the same desktop, it's difficult to tell which child windows are associated with which main window. If the PID associated with each window were in its titlebar, I could match the child windows and main windows up easily. I have checked that the app in question correctly sets the _NET_WM_PID property, but I don't see anything in Decoration or SimpleDecoration for letting me add my own text. Is there a way to do this?
