Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 506 by nathan.c...@gmail.com: cabal install xmonad-contrib --flags="-use_xft" fails with GHC 7.4.1 http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=506 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. cabal install xmonad 2. cabal install xmonad-contrib --flags="-use_xft" What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Expect it to install, instead I get an error about needing -XDatatypeContexts. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? xmonad-contrib-0.10 on Ubuntu 11.04 using GHC 7.4.1 Please provide any additional information below. I can successfully install by adding the suggested GHC option: cabal install xmonad-contrib --flags="-use_xft" --ghc-option=-XDatatypeContexts

Issue 533 in xmonad: clearUrgency should be exported from XMonad.Hooks.UrgencyHook
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 25 Sep '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 533 by JohnTy...@gmail.com: clearUrgency should be exported from XMonad.Hooks.UrgencyHook http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=533 I was trying to make it such that windows which are banished off screen on hidden scratch pad workspaces *never* get urgency set. It was not possible to do so without making my own Urgency Hook, which was fine, except that in order to make it I had no choice but to modify the source and add clearUrgency to the export list. Since "clearUrgents" is exported, which just applies "clearUrgency" to all windows, I don't see why the latter shouldn't also be available. data FilterUrgencyHook = FilterUrgencyHook [String] instance UrgencyHook FilterUrgencyHook where urgencyHook (FilterUrgencyHook skips) w = do ws <- gets windowset case W.findTag w ws of Just tag -> when (tag `elem` skips) (clearUrgency w) _ -> return () -- You received this message because this project is configured to send all issue notifications to this address. Issue 498 in xmonad: Borders are not around the window with the focus
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 26 Jul '13

26 Jul '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 498 by rlblas...@gmail.com: Borders are not around the window with the focus http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=498 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open a terminal and open a file from it in evince. E.g. type "evince a.pdf &" (assuming a.pdf exists in the current directory). 2. Now evince comes into the focus, it has the borders around its window. 3. Go back to the terminal and type "evince a.pdf". This should refresh evince. 4. Observe that evince is in focus by pressing j/k or other evince shortcuts. 5. Also observe that the terminal's window still has borders around it like it's in focus. Basically the focus and the border decoration is not in sync. One of the applications should have both the focus and the border. $ xmonad --version xmonad 0.10

Issue 436 in xmonad: XMonad.Layout.IM doesn't match UTF8 chars
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 16 Jul '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 436 by o.a.stephens: XMonad.Layout.IM doesn't match UTF8 chars http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=436 I am encountering the same issue as per http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=302 using his same test case. What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Configure withIM layout to match a window title with UTF8 chars as roster. Ex: withIM (1%7) (Title "foo™") (Tall 1 0.5 0.5) 2. Run a window with the configured name. Ex: xterm -T "foo™" -e read What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The window should be placed as withIM layout roster. In this case, on a separated column to the left. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Latest XMonad Darcs on Arch X86_64. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". No output from xmonad --recompile. Please provide any additional information below. Comments from #xmonad having queried my issue: <allbery_b> I'm looking at darcs... WindowProperties uses the ManageHook code (!! --- more evidence that it's mis-typed) and ManageHook.hs in the core uses getStringProperty everywhere <allbery_b> (in particular it's using it for _NET_WM_* which is completely wrong as they are all defined as Unicode stored as 32 bit lists) <allbery_b> suggest you reopen that bug report, or file a new one about _NET_WM_* being misinterpreted I am attempting to match Skype's window title, which also contains the ™ character. Issue 432 in xmonad: Module for linking workspaces in a multihead setup
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 15 May '13

15 May '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 432 by que...@gmail.com: Module for linking workspaces in a multihead setup http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=432 Hey, I just wanted to share some of the functions I have written for linking workspaces. The idea is that the module maintains a list of workspaces that are linked together. Whenever one switches to one of these workspaces, the other monitors are switched to the linked ones. Maybe it's of interest to someone else. It would be nice if it could be added to contrib. Best regards, Jan Attachments: linkWorkspaces.patch 60.6 KB

Issue 539 in xmonad: mplayer --fs makes window disappear sometimes (heisenbug, mplayer2)
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 31 Mar '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 539 by ju.o...@gmail.com: mplayer --fs makes window disappear sometimes (heisenbug, mplayer2) http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=539 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Install mplayer2 2. Open a terminal and execute `mplayer --fs $VIDEO` What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Once every 20 executions, the player window appears for a split second and then disappears. The sound continues playing. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? cabal version ~$ xmonad --version xmonad 0.11 ~$ uname -a Linux arch 3.8.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Mar 20 22:10:25 CET 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". xmonad --recompile does not work without an xmonad.hs. The xmonad.hs from `~/.cabal/share/xmonad-0.11/man` does not compile because `help` does not exist. If I delete the line where `help` is used, xmonad compiles without output and the bug is present. Please provide any additional information below. mplayer2's fullscreen command has no visible effect in xmonad. -- You received this message because this project is configured to send all issue notifications to this address. How to pass dmenu formatting opts when using Xmonad.Actions.Commands?
by David Cabana 31 Mar '13

31 Mar '13

Hello, Xmonad.Actions.Commands seems very nice, but I find it hard to read the default color-font combination on my system. Is there some standard way to pass in dmenu formatting options? I have a nice set I alread use with dmenu; how can I get XAC to use them? Thank you, David Cabana

Issue 537 in xmonad: xmonad does not process urxvt+vim repaint request
by codesite-noreply＠google.com 22 Mar '13

22 Mar '13

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 537 by dansp...@gmail.com: xmonad does not process urxvt+vim repaint request http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=537 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open a terminal 2. urxvt -e "/bin/bash" -c "vim <path of vim file with 100 lines+>" What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The buffer is distorted: -The bottom half of the text is not visible (black area) -The lines that are visible are not the correct lines (e.g. line 10 is rendered where line 50 should be), moving the vim cursor to a line repaints that line, but that line only What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? XMonad 0.10 on Ubuntu 12.10 Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". Using stock xmonad.hs results in the same problems, so I did not attacch my xmonad.hs. Please provide any additional information below. This problem disappears if you add a long enough sleep before opening vim, e.g.: urxvt -e "/bin/zsh" -c "sleep 1; vim <path of vim file with 100 lines+>" I really have no clue how XMonad interacts with X or how X works, but my best guess is that there is some kind of race condition and XMonad misses the repaint command from urxvt. -- You received this message because this project is configured to send all issue notifications to this address. Further xmodmap and numlock woes
by Thomas Løcke 21 Mar '13

21 Mar '13

A while ago I wrote a post to this list about the problems that arose when I disabled numlock with xmodmap -e "clear mod2": http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/xmonad/2013-February/013493.html I ended up "fixing" the problem in the legacy application, so I didn't have to muck about with xmodmap. Or so I thought. Today it reared its ugly head again, once and for all telling me that I seriously need to _completely_ disable the numlock key. My first step was to upgrade xmonad to 0.11 and then I tried xmodmap -e "clear mod2" again and of course it still didn't work: My mod key was now non-functional again. /sigh Next step was to dig out the original suggestion from Adam: handleEventHook = ( \e -> case e of MappingNotifyEvent {} -> return (All False) _ -> mempty) I added the above to my xmonad.hs file and then it failed with this: Not in scope: data constructor `All' Not in scope: `mempty' I suspect I need to import something, but what? Here's my xmonad.hs file: https://gist.github.com/ThomasLocke/5196294 Am I missing some crucial parts? :o) Thomas Løcke ps. I found xmonad at github: https://github.com/xmonad/xmonad is this an official repository?

My hack to allow disabling of numlock without messing with my xmonad mod key
by Thomas Løcke 21 Mar '13

21 Mar '13

In short: I've thrown a script together that executes the xmodmap command needed to completely disable to numlock key. What this script does is make sure that xmonad is up and running _before_ xmodmap is called. Combined with Adam's addition to my handleEventHook in xmonad.hs I've now managed to squash the numlock key into oblivion. Mission accomplished! I can't say I like this solution, but at least it gets the job done. I would still very much prefer if this could've been fixed in xmonad.hs, or if xmonad would just let me do my xmodmap'ing without destroying my mod key, but as that does not seem to be possible, I'll settle for second best. So if anybody else out there is having this problem, a bit of BASH will solve it. Just make sure you have this in your handleEventHook: ( \e -> case e of MappingNotifyEvent {} -> return (All False) _ -> mempty) and that your xmodmap calls are done _after_ xmonad is fully loaded. I call my script from .xinitrc just before I start xmonad. The script is backgrounded and it simply loops until it finds a running xmonad instance. :o) Thomas Løcke
