patch: Add search string to X.A.GridSelect grid

I find it very convenient to be able to use GridSelect to choose an option that isn't in the original list of options. One of the uses of this is to switch to a dynamic workspace that doesn't yet exist.

Apply select_input_fix.dpatch, rebuild and restart xmonad. 4. Turn second display off and on. 5. Undo previous patch, apply select_input_not_fix.dpatch, rebuild and restart xmonad. 6. Turn second display off and on. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Expected: In steps 2, 4, and 6: see "DESTROYING"/"CREATING" messages in xmonad output. Actual: Only step 4 produces the expected messages. Steps 2 and 6 produce no output. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? xmonad 0.11 (darcs) xmonad-contrib 0.11 (darcs) xorg 1.14.0 xrandr 1.4.0 X11 (Haskell binding) 1.6.1.1 Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". "xmonad --recompile" produces no output. Please provide any additional information below. I'm expecting step 2 to work because dynStatusBarStartup calls xrrSelectInput. This apparently doesn't do what it's supposed to do for me, possibly for the same reason that step 6 doesn't work. What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Running Ubuntu 10.10 under VMware Fusion under macosx 10.6 (Snow Leopard) 2. apt-get install xmonad 3. Try and copy/paste from the mac into a terminal window on Ubuntu. Doesn't matter if xmonad is running or if the session has been restarted. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Ubuntu loses track of the copy/paste buffer. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? see above. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". no Please provide any additional information below. The system is repaired by running "apt-get uninstall xmonad" This only uninstalls the xmonad package not it dependencies.

The windows that should be floating in some exact sizes appear correctly on 4:3 screen, but have a bad size on the right, 16:10 monitor, having weird borders around. To reproduce, I can open, e.g winecfg on the one or other monitor; see the attached image for its appearance. Running the latest darcs version of xmonad and xmonad-contrib, can reproduce with minimal xmonad.hs, the problem doesn't appear when running single monitor. Attachments: 1920x1200.png 12.1 KB

However, Debian has switched to mplayer2, and so on upgrade, it will stop floating. This can be easily fixed in the user's config file, but here is a patch that avoids bothering the user with breakage on upgrade.

Please provide any additional information below. The attached patch file adds a new Message type to the Tall layout (I didn't see where it should be added to other layouts). The message is called "SplitMaster", and has no arguments. It fixes the first issue by setting the client count to the master pane to 1 if it's not currently 1, thus providing a quick way to get back to that setting. It solves the second issue by changing the client count for the master pane to 2 if it's currently 1, effectively making it a toggle between the two modes of a split master pane and an unsplit master pane. Patch to add new Layout message

I found the inc/dec masterN commands to be a bit clumsy, especially considering that I pretty much just use 1 client in the master pane most of the time, sometimes using 2 when I wanted to alternate between two windows rapidly. I just submitted issue #577 on the google code issue tracker that includes a patch to add a new Message for changing the client count. The Message is called "SplitMaster", and has no arguments. It sets the client count of the master pane to 1 if it's not currently 1, thus providing a quick way to get back to that setting. It setgs the client count for the master pane to 2 if it's currently 1, effectively making it a toggle between the two modes of a split master pane and an full size master pane. I'm not sure if that's the proper way to submit patches. If not, please let me know what I need to do to submit it properly. If it is, could I get somoen to consider it and either merge it (with whatever fixes it requires) or let me know what I can do to get it merged? Thanks, Mike
