Haskell doesn't use `glibc` (or any other libc) `malloc`,it uses its own heap which is managed separately. Even Haskell's `malloc` (used with FFI) uses Haskell's heap; it allocates a "pinned" block that can't be moved but can still be garbage collected. Any fragmentation issues would need to be fixed in the garbage collector. Spawn, on new workspace, fullscreen

Hi folks, I'm struggling with this ... I'm trying to arrange for a keyboard shortcut to launch an application on a fresh workspace with a full screen layout. spawnOn doesn't appear to be paying attention to the workspace id argument ... the window always appears on the current workspace. Ideally I'd also like to immediately navigate to the workspace the app has launched on. Skipping minimized windows

Hi, I currently use the following commands to hide windows temporarily: , ((modMask .|. shiftMask, xK_y ), withLastMinimized maximizeWindowAndFocus) , ((controlMask .|. shiftMask, xK_y ), withFocused minimizeWindow) Unfortunately, when I switch focus from window to window, focus still moves to the minimized windows. Meaning that I need to switch through several invisible windows to get to the visible ones. -- Move focus to the next window , ((modMask, xK_k ), windows W.focusDown) -- Move focus to the previous window , ((modMask, xK_j ), windows W.focusUp) Is there a way to modify this so that it skips minimized windows? DynamicProjects: creating a new project that partially matches predefined project

Dear All, I use XMonad.Actions.DynamicProjects. I have a bunch of configured, predefined projects, say one with name "emacs". Now, when I use switchProjectPrompt, I do not know how to create a new (not predefined) project called "em": as soon as I type "em" it matches "emacs" and on pressing enter the "emacs" project is created. The only solution I've found is to type "em1" or similar, to prevent matching but I guess there must be a simpler way that I am missing. Could not load modules after recent update

Hi, I use xmonad on arch linux. I've recently updated my system, as one often does, and now my xmonad.hs is failing to compile and I am failing to start xmonad. Here is an example of an error: xmonad.hs:3:1: error: Could not load module ‘XMonad.Actions.CycleWS’ It is a member of the package ‘xmonad-contrib-0.18.1-Hn3tyQ1hgcfBs6gP5hIKJ’ which is unusable due to missing dependencies: random-1.2.1.2-4MvNAJNQIvxGHtrKNblxG1 Use -v (or `:set -v` in ghci) to see a list of the files searched for. | 3 | import XMonad.Actions.CycleWS | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The full log is here: https://pastebin.com/KkFQQSwU It seems that xmonad-contrib is missing the "random" library. I've tried reinstalling xmonad, xmonad-contrib, haskell-random, and any other library I can think of. However, it does not seem to improve the situation. Multi-Monitor issues with XMonad.Hooks.DynamicBars and xmobar

Hello all, I bought a new second monitor and got an issue with my dynamic xmobar setup. I use a laptop which is connected to both monitors via a docking station. This is the configuration I want to achieve with independent bars on monitor one and two. Note: when docked I do not want to turn the internal display off, this has to be done in order to save a configuration in autorandr. If anyone has a suggestion to avoid this problem, feel free to share. Configuration of xrandr(autorandr): 1. Undocked Internal display primary output 1. Xmobar spawns on monitor with ID 1 and indicates, that there is also a second monitor displaying a different workspace but somehow there is no xmobar present on the other monitor (ID 0). When I run the command defined in my barSpawner for monitor ID 0, the xmobar is spawned and works perfectly fine. Thanks for your help Jan

Visual indication of minimized windows

Hi, I've recently added XMonad.Actions.Minimize/XMonad.Layout.Minimize to my setup and I like it a lot. My only issue is that I would love it if there was some visual queue that the workspace contains minimized windows. Currently, they just disappear and I need to remember where they exist. Is there some way to show that? I'm also using polybar if that helps. Hide border when switching to full screen

Hi, Currently, if a window goes into full screen mode (e.g., if I hit "f" while watching a youtube video in Chrome), I would like it to take up the entire screen and also remove the window border. I have tried doing this with the code snippets I've included below (full xmonad.hs <https://pastebin.com/uDqdETiF>). However this only works partially. The window resizes to take up the entire screen, including toggling struts. However, the border does not toggle off. Is there anything I can do differently?
