I've been trying to checkout and compile the darcs version of xmonad, but haven't been able to connect to darcs.haskell.org (to get X11 and the other required libraries) for a few days now. I checked at http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/darcs.haskell.org and it seems it's not a problem with my connection. Anyone know what's going on? Toby -- Dr T. S. Google Chrome: the xmonad of browsers?

Hey all, I've been using Google Chrome on Arch Linux for a few days now, and I'm very impressed. Lightweight, Haskell-like process separation model (no IO from tabs doing rendering), and clean window integration. I'd encourage people to try it out. Secondly, I think we could do more to integrate Chrome into xmonad-- launch tabs from the prompt, launch the chrome supervisor process at startup. Could be a lightweight "Chrome OS" if we do it right :) -- Don

Dual-Monitor setup with GNOME (Help!)

Hi all, I scored an extra monitor at uni but am having trouble setting it up with xmonad. Normally I use xmonad with gnome. When I connected the second monitor and configured xorg.conf with Xinerama, the second monitor just shows the background and I can't move any windows into it. I can move my mouse into it and select things from menus in the gnome bar, but the windows always appear on the primary monitor. (Also, the second monitor appears to have a second mouse, with a cursor that looks like an X, not the gnome cursor.) I'm on Ubuntu 9.04 with xmonad 0.8. The video card is ATI Radeon HD 3450 (using fglrx). Please help. I don't want to give up xmonad just to use the second screen. Alex

Attached is an initial patch: it is way too slow since we query the pointer position for being in that overlap region far too frequently. That may be the reason that I cannot reproduce the bug when I'm using the attached patch, rather than it doing the right thing (disabling the magnifier when it leads to an infinite loop) Also, it seems that this patch disables the magnifier when it wouldn't otheriwse trigger that bug. A more successful attempt is probably going to listen for that particular sequence of Events that happen when you get the looping happening. [patch] Added focusMaster to BoringWindows

Hey! This is a little patch to add 'focusMaster' to BoringWindows. If used instead of the normal StackSet.focusMaster it will focus the master window unless it's 'boring' in which case the next non-boring window will be focused. While working on the patch, I noticed that the core provides focusUp' and focusDown' that work on a Stack rather than an entire StackSet, but there is no focusMaster' which would do the same thing. As I needed something like that for the modification, I added it to the core. The patch for this is also attached. But I can also do it without touching the core, if something speaks against that.
