This can cause hint-less windows to bounce between 1x1, 1xn, mx1, the proper size, and (rarely) fullscreen when the layoutHints layout modifier from xmonad-contrib is used. Two programs that exhibit this behavior are feh and sxiv.

Otherwise the window color gets set to the default black which shows up when text cannot span whole of the window. This issue becomes visible when the font size is considerably large or even in small sizes with truetype fonts. -- Rohan

This patch fixes X.L.LayoutHints to ignore windows without a size hint by using the new functions in X.Operations that return SizeHint as a Maybe.

Hi, I can't find a group for xmonad users on LinkedIn. I would like to start one, but first I want to check with the community. Is this okay? Can I use the official logo? What description or disclaimer or statement of purpose should I include? My only motivation is to create a shared signal to prospective employers/employees on LinkedIn and to be able to find (and hire!) other people who like xmonad. I promise that I won't do anything that isn't fair and open. If an official xmonad contributor wants to start this group, then please tell me and I will gratefully join the group! thanks, Steve

One may unmark *all* boring windows at once with the ClearBoring message, however. I suggest implementing either an UnmarkBoring Window, or a ToggleBoring Window message. This is unfortunate as counting the number of screens should be side effect free. The patch below changes this function in a way that after performing its operation the display is closed correctly. You'd have to do a bit more work to find the correct workspace if that's not the case. But there's a nasty stinger in that tail: if you send a message to a workspace that is not current, the message won't actually be sent because workspace operations require access to the display, which can only be granted if the workspace is current. So if it's not the current workspace, you lose anyway. There's no way to make it work. And no, you can't approach it from the other direction, either; a different version of the same problem gets in the way. :/ (I recently filed a bug about the design issue that causes this. Reset layout to default on last window close

Hello, I want workspace layout to reset to some default once last window is closed.
