[xmonad] Float dialogs over their parent windows?

Is there a way to make floating dialogs appear centered over their "parent" window? Or failing that, just above the currently focused one? It's kind of jarring when you open a dialog and it shows up somewhere else on screen, or even in another workspace. Thanks Jeff
