I'm not sure why this was introduced in the first place. 'changeDir' works fine for me now.
Looking at setCurrentDirectory's Haddocks, I don't see any warning about needing to escape directory names or anything - it's an ordinary FilePath-consuming IO function. I'm going to apply it now if it compiles successfully etc. -- gwern http://www.gwern.net
