So if nobody objects, I'm going to continue to work on autoconfig magic to make a "getScreenInfo" that works even in the face of non-existent Xinerama.
That sounds like a good solution - it would be a pain to do autoconf magic on each application using X11-extras to swap in/out Xinerama-aware functions.
