Yeah, I think his argument is that, given failure to lobby for such inclusion, it's within the distro's right to do what's best for its users and introduce a major vulnerability into OpenSSL. ;)
This smells like using a strawman to deflect the discussion. And the take-home I'm getting very clearly is "don't bother packaging xmonad for our environment because it will need custom configuration to work right".
