As I said, if my understanding of your problem is correct - and what I proposed a viable solution - I would start from something like Tall, or like Accordion (this one is in the contrib library).
Hi Andrea. yes, youve understood what i am asking, and although you've laid it out on a plate for me, its beyond my current skills - i tried and got nowhere, so i shall hopefully defer this to someone more able. :) thanks though, David
