[xmonad] How does the MosaicAlt layout work?

Hi, I am looking at the mosaic layout and I get a rough Idea of what the keybindings do ... but only a rough idea. What exactly does the tall and wide window do? How exactly does the expanding work? Is this described anywhere more precise? Thanks! Nathan
