I have no opinion on this, but UpdatePointer's maintainer is Robert Marlow.

Robert: is this accepted or rejected?

These still apply cleanly and work as advertised under my quick testing with the different updatePointer settings.

Sorry, I seem to have missed this thread due to heavy-handed mail deleting. I'll try to have a closer look at it over the weekend. It certainly sounds promising. If I don't reply by Monday, consider me an unreliable jerk and proceed without me.
