How about a simple contrib extension that modifies 'xineScreens' and windowSet to fit some user specified geometry? It's considerably simpler and requires no changes to xmonad itself.

Good idea. It's rather less cool, though... and I do dislike the idea that we store (what is usually) redundant data in xineScreens. But yeah, that'd be the way to go, as long as screens are not stored in a Stack. -- David Roundy Department of Physics Oregon State University
