Here's my setup (Mod-Shift-space does what you want): As part of my keybindings: ((modMask .|. shiftMask, xK_space), windows $ withOtherWorkspace W.greedyView) withOtherWorkspace is defined as withOtherWorkspace f ws = f (otherWorkspace ws) ws where otherWorkspace = W.tag .
