I understand, but I'm not using a VM, and why is it manifesting only on gnome-terminal and not all windows?
I noticed this also with lxterm on the integrated Intel graphics card of a new Thinkpad with the default drivers. Using the discrete nVidia graphics card or xterm fixed the problem. I can only imagine it's some kind of horrible grungy bug somewhere, but don't know any details. Conrad
