Issue 141: OpenOffice.org doesn't use GTK or honor any GTK settings http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=141
New issue report by brian.mbb: What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Start any component of OpenOffice.org in xmonad 2. 3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Under Xfce4 (even with xmonad as a window manager), OO.o looks like a normal GTK application; the icons, font sizes and style is all honored. With xmonad, however, it looks quite horrendous and nothing at all like what it should.
You need to set the environment variable OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP to gnome, e.g. add an entry "export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome" to your .xinitrc.
