See also this thread from xmonad mailing list (and others): http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/xmonad/2009-July/008213.html One workaround to make this sort of thing slightly less horrible is to bind swapUp and swapDown to buttons 4 and 5 (wheel) on the mouse.
