Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 356 by synth17: Change or add to Actions.Search secure versions of wikipedia and isohunt. http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=356 Currently wikipedia is setup to use the normal site for searches. "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?go=Go&search=" I think adding or replacing with wikipedia secure search would be an improvement. "https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Special:Search?go=Go&search=" The same for isohunt. Comment #1 on issue 356 by gwern0: Change or add to Actions.Search secure versions of wikipedia and isohunt. http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=356 What exactly would going through SSL add? The Wikipedia search did in fact use to go through secure.w.o, but no one ever mentioned it as a good thing nor complained when I switched it to normal search (nor have I ever seen anyone complain about surfraw, for example, going through normal). The chief benefit of SSL is secure login, but that's not particularly germane to searching, and not all browsers can handle SSL without hassle; elinks won't, for example. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue. Comment #2 on issue 356 by synt...@gmail.com: Change or add to Actions.Search secure versions of wikipedia and isohunt. http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=356 My reason for using ssl with sites that offer ssl, for privacy reasons. I understand that some browsers might not work correctly. Why I suggested adding, if replacing with ssl versions of the sites would be bad for some users. I already have them in my .hs, just thought others might welcome this. If not, I'm fine with it. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
