dynamiclog broken with Decoration..

hi, is it meant to be the case when using all the Decoration stuff from darcs that it vreaks the dynamiclog? i now don't get the window name updates if windows have decoration. David

sorry but I do not see any relationship between the decoration stuff and DynamicLog. The first did/does not touch the second, and everything is working fine here. Moreover this is the first report in this sense. Can you please elaborate a bit? Andrea

ok, sure. In normal 'tiled' layout when i switch focus, my dzen instance changes to show the title of the currently focused window. if i then switch to 'tallSimpleDefaultResizable' and change focus, my dzen instance no longer updates itself to reflect the current focused window - and only goes back to working when i change my layout back to 'tiled' thanks David

Sorry, but I cannot help with dzen. I'm using xmobar and I cannot reproduce your problem as you can see here: http://gorgias.mine.nu/xmonadShots/chantersReport.png Here the focus changed: http://gorgias.mine.nu/xmonadShots/chantersReport1.png The window's name is given by the green text. This means that DynamicLog is working and that the problem is elsewhere. As I said, the decoration stuff is totally unrelated with DynamicLog. Cheers, Andrea

OK, i see that. but why then would dzen fail with decorations? would you be willing to try a running dzen with dynamiclog to see it for yourself? i just find it odd it stops working with Decorations enabled, whether its related or not - its certainly a symptom. hopefully someone else can confirm or deny this. :) David

hopefully someone else can confirm or deny this. :)

can you please send me your ~/.xmonad/xmona.hs file?
that could help.

I'm using dzen-0.8.5 and this is what I see with your config: http://gorgias.mine.nu/xmonadShots/chantersReport4.png I think this is not related to xmonad in general, and not to the decoration framework specifically. But I'll be waiting for other reports. I'm sorry but I cannot be of any help. Cheers, Andrea
