xmonad and the google summer of code

I've created a ticket under the haskell.org's Google Summer of Code page for an xmonad project: adding compositing support. http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/summer-of-code/ticket/1548 Any developer with relevant experience who'd be interested in spending 3 months over the summer working on this, please add your name to the ticket. I've identified possibly SoC-accepted orgs that may be interested in funding this, other ideas for who'd be interested are welcome. Cheers, Don

This sounds like a brilliant idea. I've often thought animating window moves and resizes would greatly improve user experience by making what's happening more visually explicit. (That's not an offer to do it, btw. Alas, I have limited time. But I'd definitely make use of it if it were done.) Don Stewart wrote:

The difficulty will be finding an umbrella organisation to fund it. I'm not sure Haskell.org will -- depends on how many places we receive. Possibly X.org will. But at least we'll have fleshed out this project some more. -- Don robreim:
