Issue 503 in xmonad: Persistent gray rectangles

I cannot interact with it at all. Usually, if I create a single window and cycle through my tiling style, the rectangle will go away.

He's using Ubuntu, and has updated to the most recent graphics drivers. There's no compositing manager running, and xdpyinfo shows that the X server is not using save-under.
