If you're adding things which are primitive parts of the standard prelude then I would recommend at looking at: - src/packages/yhc-base-1.0/YHC/Primitive.hs - src/runtime/BCKernel/primitive.h - src/runtime/BCKernel/primitive.c - src/runtime/BCKernel/builtin Some of the files in builtin are more closely tied to the runtime than others. Array.c, IO.c and System.c are fairly good examples of generic ones. scons, libs, etc

I have the same problem as this guy: http://www.mail-archive.com/yhc%40haskell.org/msg00423.html I would really like to fix this. 1) it always builds the first time 2) it always fails after running scons clean This is major problem for me, because I need to clean and rebuild to make sure that my added libraries build correctly. I have installed working libs of Data.Map and dependencies including IORef on my machine, but I can't submit the patch yet because it doesn't build from scratch. As it is I have to darcs record and then darcs pull to a fresh repository. Passing stuff that I don't fully understand to xargs rm -rf does not appeal to me, [joke or anecdote about yet another accident with rm -rf]! Second question: is there a preferred way to rebuild Prelude.hi? I've been using yhc -c -rebuild -prelude Prelude.hs and copying the result into bootstrap/. Third question: is there a standard test suite for the base libraries? I couldn't find one in google. My only test so far is that 5 + 3 = 8 using modifyIORef to do the addition. Hi, I am not sure if this is a known problem, but here's an example There is a module which imports Ix (from haskell98) and has some datatype deriving (Ix) This module does not compile with the following message: ================= Compiling Geometry ( ../../../home/dima/ext/workdirs/Fudgets/hsrc/utils/Geometry.hs ) yhc: -- during when renaming Error: Identifier Data.Ix._tupleRange used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. Error: Identifier Data.Ix.inRange used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. Error: Identifier Data.Ix.range used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. Error: Type class Data.Ix.Ix used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. Error: Identifier Data.Ix._tupleIndex used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. Error: Identifier Data.Ix.index used at 7:35-7:36 is not defined. ================= line 7 is where deriving (...., Ix ) is located. If I import Data.Ix instead, everything compiles fine. The Ix module from haskell98 is: ================= module Ix ( Ix(range, index, inRange, rangeSize) ) where import Data.Ix ================= So, methods of the Ix class are not re-exported. I am pretty much OK importing Data.Ix (anyway, Fudgets code needs to be hierarchized, and I did something in this direction in the past), but this may be a problem in Yhc.
