Can't build Yhc on Mac

How can i fix this error? On wiki http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Yhc/Building i found link to buildbot status but it's dead. Does buildbot still used for build automation? Can't build

Hello, I can't build Yhc. I followed instructions here: http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Yhc/Building darcs get finished fine. When I simply typed "scons" into a console window, I get: tinuviel@debian:~/haskell/yhc$ scons scons: Reading SConscript files ... Hi Ulrich, Unfortunately I no longer have any time to work on Yhc, and don't have any easy answers to your problems. Someone at the yhc@ mailing list may have the answers, but the number of Yhc developers is pretty small (possibly 0), so you may not have much success. lambda function names

I'm trying to map lambda names in Yhc Core code back to the containing functions, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way of doing this. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I've spotted a previous mailing list post (http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/yhc/2007-June/000957.html) and a google code bug (http://code.google.com/p/yhc/issues/detail?id=141) but no evidence of anything having been done. Does anyone have any ideas what naming would be nice? Given: module Test where main = (\a -> a) 42 presumably we want something like Test;main!LAMBDAxxx - with whatever seperator seems nice. Using a different symbol has the same reasoning as using the ";" - to make it easy for Yhc Core based tools, see (http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/yhc/2007-August/001044.html) As far as implementing this goes, it seems that liftLambda in Lift.hs is naming the function, but I can't work out where the code it is lifting came from. Any pointers on that would be appreciated. Thanks

What is the status of the "york-compiler98" repo?

Hi, I have noticed that while the "http://darcs.haskell.org/yhc/" hasn't been updated since May, the "http://darcs.haskell.org/york-compiler98/" receives some patches. Is this the place where the Yhc development is going on now? I see that PosLambda converter to Yhc Core is there. While I switched to Hugs as Yhc Core producer for my experiments (mainly because of better compatibility with modern libraries), I'd be glad to have Yhc/nhc98 (or whatever is the name these days) in sync. Does nhc98 have any Yhc Core support? Hugs is more or less compatible with modern GHC libraries, but Yhc AFAIR used much older and smaller subset of them. Is libraries support in york-compiler98 any better than those included with Yhc repo? Thanks. PS Since Hugs is now capable of producing Yhc Core, it would be interesting to see if it can be run on top of nhc98 or Yhc runtime. Hello, I tried building Yhc recently (I'd like to use the javascript backend in a project) but I ran into the following error: src/compiler/Core/Convert.hs:133:50: Couldn't match expected type `String -> Warning' against inferred type `Map.Map Id Info' In the first argument of `toForeign', namely `syms' In the expression: toForeign syms memo cc Imported cname arity i In the definition of `forn': forn = toForeign syms memo cc Imported cname arity i scons: *** [src/compiler/Core/Convert.o] Error 1 I got things working by applying the following small patch: { hunk ./Core/Convert.hs 133 - forn = toForeign syms memo cc Imported cname arity i + forn = toForeign FFIWarn syms memo cc Imported cname arity i } although I don't know whether that matches the intent of adding the (String -> Warning) argument. I had to make an even smaller patch to get the javascript translator to build: { hunk ./src/translator/js/Makefile 200 - $(GHC) --make -package base -package network -package hxt -package filepath $< -o $@ + $(GHC) --make -package base -package network -package hxt-7.5 -package filepath $< -o $@ } The user's guide on the wiki also needs some minor tweaks to be up to date with the current version of Yhc. I'll probably make them tonight or tomorrow. Now that I have haskell running in the browser, it's very cool! Regards, Reid Barton

Core to Bytecode?

Hello, currently I'm playing around with transformations of YHC core files. I would like to run the resulting programs, but the haskellwiki page says that Yhc can't compile Yhc Core files to bytecode. Is there a quick-and-dirty way to use the functions that already exist in the YHC codebase for this? Compiling Yhc - n00b having trouble

Hi I am just starting to learn Haskell (and FP in general). I've printed a copy of Yet Another Haskell Tutorial[1], and I wanted to work through it simultaneously using Ghc and Yhc. Fixes for issue 110 and 139

Hi, I have uploaded patches for issues 110 (http://code.google.com/p/yhc/issues/detail?id=110) and 139 (http://code.google.com/p/yhc/issues/detail?id=139) Can someone please check them. For issue 139 I heavily borrowed from the GHC code to implement some of the primitive functions for Floats and Doubles. Is that ok? Also can someone please explain to me how multiplication for floats and doubles is done. I can see the call to primIntMul for Integers but I haven't found anything for floats and doubles.
