Haddock vs GHC version

Hi, I'm getting the error: cabal: Haddock's internal GHC version must match the configured GHC version After cabal configure, cabal haddock. What went wrong? How do I fix it? Can that error message give version numbers, so its easier to track down in future. $ haddock --version Haddock version 2.4.2, (c) Simon Marlow 2006 Ported to use the GHC API by David Waern 2006-2008 $ haddock --ghc-version 6.10.2 $ ghc --version The Glorious Glasgow Haskell Compilation System, version 6.10.2 $ cabal --version cabal-install version 0.6.2 using version 1.6.0.3 of the Cabal library Thanks Neil

Normally we use `System.Directory.findExecutable` to find tools like `haddock`. However on Windows, the Win32 `SearchPath` function looks not just in the `%PATH%`. It looks first in the directory where the .exe of the current process lives (which might either be `runghc.exe` or it might be `cabal.exe`) and only secondarily in the `%PATH%`. So, for ghc, Cabal should look for haddock first in ghc's bin dir and then if it's not there, use `findExecutable` to look in various other places. The attached patch makes a 'cabal depends' command that does this, but Duncan (quite reasonably) doesn't want a proliferation of top-level commands. Instead it should be integrated into cabal info in some appropriate way, but this probably requires some refactoring of that command first. The attached patch could also be improved in (at least) two ways: - Deal with package version numbers as well as names. Don't take that as a discouragement though, it'd be great to have better support for hugs and winhugs in the cabal tool. All it needs is someone to pay it a little attention. For the specific issue, does winhugs come with the hugsffi tool? I expect that it should do though perhaps it's hidden away in some directory. I believe that by default hugs uses $HOME/lib/packages/* for per-user packages. I'm not quite sure what winhugs does. It'd be good to adjust the defaults to make this "just work". Duncan

Problem installing cabal on OS X

Hi, After following the quick unix instructions here: http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/wiki/CabalInstall#QuickInstallation… Cabal itself seems to download and install okay, but then the HTTP dependency fails, I think.
