Hackage trac account
by Andres Löh 22 Feb '12

22 Feb '12

Hi. Sorry for spamming the mailing list. But I've had trouble logging in to the Hackage/Cabal trac already before the trac was disabled; and now that it's back up, I still can't login. I can't find anywhere an email address where to report it, and I don't fully understand who (if anyone) is responsible, so I'm sending this here. Could whoever has the permissions please reset my apparently existing account kosmikus? It doesn't seem to send me email when I click on password reminder, even though it claims to do so. Ideally, you'd also reset the mail address to either mail(a)andres-loeh.de or andres(a)well-typed.com. Thank you very much in advance. [Hackage] #919: hackage-mirror should handle errors more gracefully

#919: hackage-mirror should handle errors more gracefully -------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- Reporter: bgamari | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Hackage 2 server | Version: 1.8.0.6 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | -------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- hackage-mirror against hackage.haskell.org fails with, {{{ $ hackage-mirror http://hackage.haskell.org/ http://bgamari:xxx@localhost:8080/ 17816 packages to mirror. mirroring PlslTools-0.0.1 hackage-mirror: Failed to upload package PlslTools-0.0.1, HTTP error code 400, Bad Request http://bgamari:...@localhost:8080/package/PlslTools-0.0.1/PlslTools-0.0.1.t… short tar trailer }}} While the source of the error is unclear, it's a sign that the error handling should be more robust. Perhaps failing packages should be skipped until it's very clear that something is horribly wrong (e.g. a heuristic like 10 packages fail in a row)? -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/919> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

Patch for broken 'cabal configure --enable-tests'
by Thomas Tuegel 18 Feb '12

18 Feb '12

When we fixed dependency resolution for tests in cabal-install, I didn't make 'cabal configure' add the new resolver constraints when appropriate. As a result, 'cabal configure' was silently ignoring '--enable-tests' and '--enable-benchmarks'. The attached patch corrects this behavior. Thanks! -- Thomas Tuegel

Hi Thomas. Modular solver support for optional stanzas is done. Regarding your patches, there's one aspect I don't understand: In Distribution/Client/Install.hs: configBenchmarks = toFlag False, configTests = toFlag (TestStanzas `elem` stanzas) You first had configBenchmarks analogous to configTests, then changed it back. I don't fully understand why the two should be handled differently. Could you please explain? Do you happen to know existing packages that make use of benchmark stanzas that I could use as test cases? The current diff to the trunk (all I intend to push) is here: http://www.andres-loeh.de/cabal-install-enable-tests-3.dpatch Thanks. Right. Then we should see what milestones we need, and assign tickets to milestones. As we discussed yesterday, I think it makes sense to share the same trac for cabal and hackage due to cross-cutting issues. BTW, I also usually try to keep cabal-devel in the loop (cc'd), so as to let people participate or simply get visibility into what's going on. >> We did get another reasonable push at the time. Interrupted by the hackage.h.o server going down :-( I've restarted the mirroring. Currently less than 4000 packages left to go. I'd expect a few more hours. Then I can assess how many packages remain unmirrorable. Can also start continuous mirroring after that. Duncan
