Well I was wondering the same... Of course it would be nice to see it in some 1.10.x release, but if it is only needed by Fedora then we can probably carry it as a patch for now. I am not sure if all the potential code paths have been tested, though so far it "worksforme". Anyway it is probably sensible to leave it for ghc-7.0.3 or later at this point. :) (For my next trick I want to teach ghc to be able to live without static libraries (so that --disable-library-vanilla will actually be useful): I think that it still doesn't like missing static libs?) > Thanks. Applied to head for now. :-) Thanks, Jens

"Cabal ignores ld-options?" - 2011 remix
by Ryan Newton 01 Feb '11

Oops, sent this to Cafe but it's more appropriate for cabal-devel. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Ryan Newton <rrnewton(a)gmail.com> Date: Sun, Jan 30, 2011 at 4:54 AM Subject: "Cabal ignores ld-options?" - 2011 remix To: Haskell Cafe <haskell-cafe(a)haskell.org> Hi cafe, I am trying to link a ".a" file built by a separate makefile into my library. GHC has no problem with it, but I need to convince cabal to do it for the package to be hackage-friendly. There's a thread about this back in 2007: http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/cabal-devel/2007-April/000507.html Is there a method for this now, or is the state of affairs the same as before? Thanks, -Ryan

[Hackage] #722: Data-Files cabal directive should support directories
by Hackage 31 Jan '11

31 Jan '11

#722: Data-Files cabal directive should support directories ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: cygnus | Owner: Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Cabal library | Version: Severity: normal | Keywords: recursive directories data sdist Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- It should be possible to use the `Data-Files` directive to include whole directories (recursively) in source distributions. In many cases it's impossible or cumbersome to list all of the files one would like to install, and it seems to me that nobody should have to do that if what they really mean is, "install everything in that-data-dir/." In implementation terms, this doesn't strike me as too tricky; after the wildcard parsing that already happens, detect whether the files to be copied are in fact directories and copy them recursively as such. I'm more than willing to hack on this. -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/722> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects
