patch applied (cabal): Configure and build executable testsuites
by Duncan Coutts 05 Jun '10

Wed May 26 12:43:55 PDT 2010 Thomas Tuegel <ttuegel(a)gmail.com> * Configure and build executable testsuites Ticket #215 (Overhaul support for packages' test). During the build stage, executable testsuites are handled analogously to ordinary executables. This means their sources are preprocessed and compiled. To actually compile, the build stage actions are performed on a dummy Executable. [Hackage] #699: Do additional ghc / ghc-pkg consistency check
by Hackage 05 Jun '10

05 Jun '10

#699: Do additional ghc / ghc-pkg consistency check ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: duncan | Owner: Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Cabal library | Version: 1.6.0.3 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- See http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/4103 In future, `ghc --info` will report the global package database location. This can be used to check that ghc and ghc-pkg agree on the same one, as a consistency check to make sure the two programs are from the same ghc installation. Note that getting the location of the global package db from ghc-pkg is a bit hacky at the moment. One has to use `ghc-pkg list --global` and parse the result. Perhaps we need another ghc feature request for that. -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/699> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

patch applied (cabal): Fix QA check on version range syntax to detect use of ()'s
by Duncan Coutts 03 Jun '10

03 Jun '10

Wed Jun 2 10:37:03 PDT 2010 Duncan Coutts <duncan(a)haskell.org> * Fix QA check on version range syntax to detect use of ()'s The problem was that we do the QA check on using the new version range syntax after parsing. The new syntax allows ()'s but previously the code threw them away in the parser stage. We now retain them in the AST and deal with them appropriately. This now allows the QA check to be accurate and detect things like "build-depends: base (>= 4.2)". Re: haskeline without terminfo

What do I gain when I use haskeline with terminfo? Suppose that at the prompt, you enter more characters than the width of the terminal. With terminfo, the line will wrap and you can see all the text at once as you edit it; you can also move up to the first part of the line using the left arrow, ctrl-a, etc. Without terminfo, you can still edit long inputs, but the interface will stay on one line. If you move back and forth through a long string, at each point it'll only display a subsequence of the text -- as much text as fits in the terminal width. Hope that helps; I'll make a note to improve the documentation in the .cabal file. -Judah

haskeline without terminfo
by Christian Maeder 02 Jun '10

02 Jun '10

Hi, usually I install haskeline without terminfo, because I don't miss any functionality and try to avoid installing unused packages. I do so either manually (and global) via Setup or by: cabal install -f -terminfo haskeline However, when I install another package that depends on haskeline (i.e. "cabal install pugs") it will reinstall terminfo and haskeline. It does not reinstall haskeline if I manually install terminfo by "cabal install terminfo", although my old (global) haskeline package does not depend on the new (local) terminfo package. 1. What do I gain when I use haskeline with terminfo? 2. How can I convince "cabal install <pkg-depending-on-haskeline>" to use my installed haskeline version without terminfo? Where is more documentation for the flags? --constraint=DEPENDENCY A list of additional constraints on the dependencies. --preference=DEPENDENCY Specify preferences (soft constraints) on the version of a package Cheers Christian cabal-install version 0.8.2 using version 1.8.0.6 of the Cabal library
