This can be used to check that ghc and ghc-pkg agree on the same one, as a consistency check to make sure the two programs are from the same ghc installation. Note that getting the location of the global package db from ghc-pkg is a bit hacky at the moment. One has to use `ghc-pkg list --global` and parse the result. The new syntax allows ()'s but previously the code threw them away in the parser stage. We now retain them in the AST and deal with them appropriately. This now allows the QA check to be accurate and detect things like "build-depends: base (>= 4.2)". What do I gain when I use haskeline with terminfo? Suppose that at the prompt, you enter more characters than the width of the terminal. With terminfo, the line will wrap and you can see all the text at once as you edit it; you can also move up to the first part of the line using the left arrow, ctrl-a, etc. Without terminfo, you can still edit long inputs, but the interface will stay on one line. If you move back and forth through a long string, at each point it'll only display a subsequence of the text -- as much text as fits in the terminal width. Hope that helps; I'll make a note to improve the documentation in the .cabal file. -Judah

haskeline without terminfo

Hi, usually I install haskeline without terminfo, because I don't miss any functionality and try to avoid installing unused packages. I do so either manually (and global) via Setup or by: cabal install -f -terminfo haskeline However, when I install another package that depends on haskeline (i.e. "cabal install pugs") it will reinstall terminfo and haskeline. It does not reinstall haskeline if I manually install terminfo by "cabal install terminfo", although my old (global) haskeline package does not depend on the new (local) terminfo package. 1. What do I gain when I use haskeline with terminfo? 2. How can I convince "cabal install <pkg-depending-on-haskeline>" to use my installed haskeline version without terminfo? Where is more documentation for the flags? --constraint=DEPENDENCY A list of additional constraints on the dependencies. --preference=DEPENDENCY Specify preferences (soft constraints) on the version of a package Cheers Christian cabal-install version 0.8.2 using version 1.8.0.6 of the Cabal library
