[Hackage] #610: wxcore install fail on Vista

#610: wxcore install fail on Vista ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Reporter: guest | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: cabal-install tool | Version: 1.6.0.1 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: very hard (<1 week) | Ghcversion: Platform: Windows | ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Hi, I'm trying to install the wx package onto my Windows Vista machine using the command: "cabal install wx" and I am having a problem. The problem is with the wxcore package. The error I get is the following: setup.exe: wx-config: runGenProcess: does not exist (No such file or directory) cabal: Error: some packages failed to install: wx-0.12.1.2 depends on wxcore-0.12.1.2 which failed to install. wxcore-0.12.1.2 failed during the configure step. The exception was: exit: ExitFailure 1 I have downloaded CYGWIN and run the command from there, but I get the exact same error. Any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks, Colm -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/610> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

Valery, if you have a chance to check this, that'd be great then hopefully for cabal-install we'd just specify a dependency on the next HTTP package version. Duncan

[Hackage] #608: Files that are only used by cabal setup are not recompiled when they change between runs of 'cabal build'
by Hackage 16 Nov '09

#608: Files that are only used by cabal setup are not recompiled when they change between runs of 'cabal build' ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: guest | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Cabal library | Version: 1.6.0.1 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Files that are only used by cabal setup are not recompiled when they change between runs of 'cabal build'. Reproduction steps for the included cabal package: - Run 'cabal configure && cabal build && cabal test' - The test output should be "I helped with lots of stuff!" - Change the string in Distribution/Helper.hs to "I didn't help with " - Rerun 'cabal configure && cabal build && cabal test' -- the output should change to "I didn't help with lots of stuff!", but nothing recompiles and the output doesn't change. Although the attached cabal package is minimal, I've observed this behavior with darcs's Distribution/ShellHarness. -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/608> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

[Hackage] #607: Hackage bitrot watch page

#607: Hackage bitrot watch page --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- Reporter: duncan | Owner: Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: hackageDB website | Version: 1.6.0.1 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- It should be possible to make a report of packages that are bitrotted or in danger of becoming so. This would be done using a number of factors, but mainly just looking at the dependency graph and seeing if it's no longer possible to build the package using "current" versions of standard dependencies. Additionally it can be based on build reports. Severely bitrotted packages should have their authors notified and be excluded from the main package index on the website. -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/607> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

[Hackage] #562: cabal-install update fails going through a HTTP proxy (but not consistently)

#562: cabal-install update fails going through a HTTP proxy (but not consistently) ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: acid2 | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Cabal library | Version: 1.6.0.1 Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: unknown | Ghcversion: Platform: | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- I have installed Cabal, cabal-install and HTTP all from source on my Arch Linux machine, which has GHC 6.10.3 installed. When running {{{cabal update}}} this will occasionally work, but most often fails with the error: {{{cabal: user error (Codec.Compression.Zlib: premature end of compressed stream)}}} In this case, inspecting ~/.cabal/packages/hackage.haskell.org/00-index.tar.gz shows a file size that varies around 1-15K, rather than the expected ~900K.
