Hi all, On behalf of all the cabal contributors, I'm proud to announce cabal 1.20. With 404 commits since the 1.18 release, this is a feature packed release. Hi all, The second, and hopefully last, release candidate for Cabal and cabal-install 1.20 is ready. If no issues are discovered, I plan to release this on Sunday, April 20th. 1.20 release candidates

Hi all, I've prepared the 1.20 release candidates. I now need some help testing, especially on Windows as I don't have a Windows machine. To install the release candidates simply run: cabal install http://johantibell.com/files/Cabal-1.20.0-rc.tar.gz http://johantibell.com/files/cabal-install-1.20.0-rc.tar.gz Please report any issues on the bug tracker: https://github.com/haskell/cabal/issues If I haven't heard of anything release blocking bugs (or last minute important patches) in a couple of days, I will make these tarballs the official release. The commits used are tagged in the repo as Cabal-v1.20.0-rc and cabal-install-v1.20.0-rc. -- Johan

We currently have an OS X Mavericks binary but we also need at least a Windows binary: http://www.haskell.org/cabal/download.html If someone could build me a Windows binary that would be great.

Planning to make 1.20 release in about one week

Hi! I looked over and replied to the remaining outstanding pull requests a couple of days ago. I'm happy to call what's in master now 1.20 (although I'm also happy if any of the outstanding pull requests make it in.) If nothing major happens I will make a release on the 15th. P.S. There are 360 commits since the last release according to `git log --pretty=oneline Cabal-v1.18.1.3..`. -- Johan

The project aims to make various improvements to Hackage, such as exposing build reports and documentation uploads. Bug on lhs files

Hi, There is a bug in cabal haddock, when lines in an lhs file start with a $, which is quite common when writing a paper with large TeX fragments in the programs. For instance, cabal haddock fails on the following lhs file: blabla, blibli $a+b$ \begin{code} main=putStrLn "Hello" \end{code} I first thought it was a haddock bug, but the haddock maintainers disagree:http://trac.haskell.org/haddock/ticket/293 Pierre-Étienne Meunier

Greetings, First of all to people reading this at ghc-devs, I don't expect this to be a direct problem caused by GHC but who knows, so I'm CC'ing it anyway. As you might know, GHC 7.8.1 is scheduled to release Very Soon™ (later today?). We got a report at Haddock Trac few weeks ago about a strange error, see http://trac.haskell.org/haddock/ticket/284. I have asked about this on cabal-devel before and Mikhail said that maybe it's https://github.com/haskell/cabal/pull/1374 but it's unlikely because the changes aren't ran by default. Today I got new reports of this problem and so far everyone on OSX seems to be affected! This suddenly became a big problem. To replicate: 1. Find OSX machine 2. Get GHC 7.8 rc2 package (which includes Haddock at that stage) 3. git clone git@github.com:ekmett/free.git && cd free 4. cabal install --only-dependencies --enable-documentation && cabal configure && cabal haddock The reason I'm barking up cabal-devel and ghc-devs is because I honestly can not think of anything that has changed since Haddock 2.13.2.1 that could possibly cause this. Does anyone have any idea at all? I think it would be very bad to release now and have everyone on OSX unable to build docs. FYI I get build docs on 32-bit Linux. No idea about Windows. Thanks, I hope to hear back soon. PS: How does one go about downgrading Cabal and cabal-install? If we wanted to check whether cabal is the problem, how? -- Mateusz K.
